Our Process

Your time is valuable. That's why I've made the High Impact process as convenient and painless for you as possible.

Unlike most of my competitors, I won't ask you to fill out a questionnaire. Instead, we will build content together through an interview/brainstorming session that is designed to discover your most marketable experiences, skills, strengths and accomplishments. If you have an existing resume, I would like to see it before our brainstorming session, so I can see where the holes are in your resume content. If you don't have anything, don't worry about it. As a former recruiter, I can usually pull everything I need out of you in 2 hours or less.

Although I would love to meet with you face to face, these days it's just not possible, since the vast majority of my clients are across Canada and the U.S. Therefore, I now conduct all content brain-storming sessions by phone. If your computer is set up for Skype videocalling, we can also try that.

Most of my clients appreciate not having to travel to meet me. In addition to being easier for them, they also have access to their own records, computer files and in many cases the Internet, so they can look up information as we speak. Many also like the fact that I now offer evening and weekend appointments -- something I never did when I had a fancy downtown office.

• I can save you time -- As an experienced recruiter, I don't need you to get the facts on paper for me. In fact, given the choice between being buried under masses of paper or building the resume from the ground up, I usually prefer to build content from zero because I can then hone in on the most important facts. So it doesn't matter whether the starting point is nothing, or a resume you had done 10 years ago, or even an up-to-the minute resume that isn't getting you any interviews. I can interview you for the facts, and take your resume to completion with minimal time investment on your part. This leaves you free to do what you do best!
  
• no rushing, no traffic, no parking hassles -- You don't even have to leave the comfort of your own home or office. If you have a speakerphone, you will almost feel like you're having coffee with a friend. In fact, most of my clients tell me the process is much easier and more pleasant than they expected.

Once I have the content, I will invest many more hours in writing, rewriting, editing and proofreading your new resume, until it finally meets the High Impact quality standards. I will then send you a draft via e-mail or fax, and ask you to review the content to ensure it accurately reflects your background, personality, capabilities and future goals. This is your chance to provide input and make any changes necessary to ensure you are completely comfortable with the final product. Needless to say, I will work with you through any revisions until you feel the final product accurately represents your experiences, skills and career goals.

At the end of the consultation, I take a 50% deposit, and email you some layout samples, a client agreement and a blank credit card authorization form that I will ask you to fill out and return to me. These days, you can fax, scan & email the documents or even send me a digital photo of the completed documents if you don't have access to a fax or a scanner.

Upon completion, you will receive:

• your resume in Microsoft Word 2010/2007 (.docx) or Word 2003 (.doc) versions available if you haven't upgraded your software yet), as well as PDF formats; these are sent to you first as e-mail attachments, so you can start using them immediately; Rich Text and/or Plain Text files are available upon request
• a rewritable CD (CD-RW) (this enables you to e-mail, revise or customize your own resume and cover letters)
• 5 color laser copies printed on high-quality cream or white resume paper
• a free cover letter template (this is available upon request to all clients who have paid us in full for a resume); this Word template provides a basic framework for you to fill in your own content in an organized manner; since we do not do any of the thinking or writing on this template, and we are not responsible or legally liable for your free cover letter template content in any way

Normally, you should receive your CD and paper copies by mail within 2-5 business days. However, depending on your timelines, you may wish to have us courier these to you sooner, for an additional cost.

Fees are outlined under each client category (see the links on the left side of this page). We accept Visa, MasterCard or Interac Email Transfers. Please note that a 50% deposit is required at the end of the brainstorming session. The remainder is payable when your resume is approved, or within 48 hours of e-mailing the first draft to you, whichever comes sooner. If you require more than 48 hours to review your resume for possible revisions, I would be happy to give you an extra week or two, provided that I receive your final payment authorization (either verbally or in writing) within 48 hours.
